Tensor threads or how to fight wrinkles?

Tensor threads or how to fight wrinkles?

According to the French Association of Aesthetic and Anti-Aging Medicine, "tensor threads are intended to restore tension to sagging areas of the skin of the face and neck, and to support sagging subcutaneous tissue. »

These are surgical threads that hook inside the skin to keep it taut. The result is completely natural with immediately visible skin rejuvenation.

Tensor threads, a less radical technique than a facelift

When you are tempted by a facelift to combat skin aging, the idea of surgery can be scary. Tensor threads can represent a less invasive and above all less definitive alternative. Indeed, the pose does not require general anesthesia. Rather recommended around the age of 45, to combat the slackening due to the years, the tensor threads are absorbable, and their effect lasts between 18 and 24 months.

They will create tension under the skin to combat sagging or "ptosis".

They are inserted through a needle hole in the hypodermis (deepest layer of the skin, subcutaneous) and are invisible after placement. The doctor or plastic surgeon can start with an injection of hyaluronic acid to give volume, then proceed under local anesthesia and stretch the face with threads.

How to choose them?

There are different generations of tension threads that you can easily get lost in, you have to choose good quality ones:

  • Polydioxanone (PDO)
  • Polylactic (PLA)
  • Polycaprolactone (PCL)

The main difference is durability and flexibility (from 6 to 24 months). They are all of equal quality.

PCLs are nevertheless less comfortable but last longer.

And different families:

  • Mono: There is a thread on the needle and can get all over the skin of the face. We can cite the PDO basic from Croma for example.
  • Mono screw: This is a thread wrapped around the needle and is mostly used for fine lines and wrinkles.
  • COG thread: these are notched threads that create a real lifting result (the most effective) such as for example the PDO Barb II of Chroma.

Chez Croma:

Name of sons Function
BASIC Smooth wrinkles
SCREW Redensifies, gives volume
4D
ANCHOR
ANCHOR PLUS (the pimples are tighter and wider)
BARB 2 (mounted on needle, less used)
Repositions, raises

All threads are collagen inducers: they help to tighten the tissues and give a plumper appearance to the skin. But the more we advance in complexity (more notches for example) the more they will create a reinforcement for the collagen.

To insert these wires you have different possibilities:

  • Sharp needles mainly used with Mono Thread which are easy to insert because they do not need other needles to make the hole but which have the disadvantage of requiring several holes.
  • Cannulas which have a rounded end, therefore more difficult to enter, and which require a needle but which are very flexible and therefore very safe and practical because they avoid arteries, veins, etc. They are used more with barbed wires.

Then you will have to choose the gauges (diameters of the needle) knowing that the smaller the number in front of the G, the larger the size; as well as the millimeters which represent the length of the needle. These parameters are chosen according to the wire chosen, the zone, and the size of the zone. This is of course medical equipment and quality.

Other parameters to pay attention to are the size of the notches as well as their number, for example, the Anchor wires have 42 notches of 0.8mm while the Anchor plus 60 of 0.9mm, thus, the latter will have a more pulling effect .

How or to use a tensor thread?

The tensor threads can be used to achieve a lifting result without surgery, to fight against sagging or sagging due to the years, or to lift the jowls, smooth the neck or redraw the oval of the face.

Here on this before/after of Doctor Essayagh, we notice a visible rejuvenation and an oval of the face and a clearer chin.

But they can also be used to make a fox eyes as did Kylie Jenner for example, or even at the level of the chin. These are treatments that many patients seek from their doctor.

In short, thread lifts can be used in just about any part of the face, whether it's the thin, simple ones that stimulate collagen or the thicker, scalloped ones to really lift or pull certain parts of the face. To facilitate installation, there are special threads for certain areas such as, for example, the WHITE ROSE Nose correction threads for nose corrections, it is particularly thin, perfect for narrow areas such as the inside of the nostrils and its length adapts perfectly to corrections:

  • From the wing of the nose,
  • You sillon naso-labial ;
  • From the back of the nose;
  • From the lobule of the nose;
  • Sides.

To sum up,

Name Mono Mono Screw Tornado Cog thread
Description A thread on the needle A thread wrapped around the needle A thread or several threads wound on themselves Serrated threads
Use Everywhere Wrinkles and fine lines to give a little volume Jawline, light lifting Effet lifting
  → Create more and more support for collagen induction

For optimal results, this technique must be used multiple times, the tensor effect and the induction of collagen will only be more effective. Longer lasting results can be observed by combining with injections of hyaluronic acids, which may or may not give volume, but they will not be permanent either.

Some rare side effects may exist such as slight edema in the days following treatment.

If you notice any lasting side effects as a result of the treatment, please consult your doctor.

In addition, with regard to medical contraindications, only a doctor can decide whether or not to proceed with these techniques, because excessively thin skin or excessively distended skin surfaces must be avoided.

We remind you that any intervention (laying of threads or injections of hyaluronic acid) must be carried out by a professional in aesthetic medicine. If you want to know more about hyaluronic acid, you will find our detailed guide here !
