To answer this question once and for all, the research unit at the University of California conducted a survey with nearly 400 volunteers, published since February 2017 - appearing in the American scientific journal "JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery", which aims to discover what the "ideal proportions" are. First, participants had to examine numerous photos of young women's lips. Then, they were asked to rate each photo according to their opinion on a relative scale from 1 to 10 (1 representing the least attractive appearance and 10 the maximum). 
Next, the French researchers showed the volunteers new photos in which the lower & upper lips had been modified, in order to try to determine the "ideal" size. 
Verdict ...! It was observed that both men and women participating in the study generally preferred lips 50% larger than the norm! Participants also seemed to prefer when the lower lip is 2x thicker than the upper. A bit like those of celebrities Alessandra Ambrosio and Miranda Kerr, which according to the research, come closest to perfection. From this survey, it can be concluded that generally, natural beauty prevails! Indeed, natural & plump lips without makeup represent what comes closest to perfect lips!
